I offer a complimentary couple shoot in my wedding package and I’m often asked what is a couple shoot and do we really need one, so I thought I would write a post all about them and why I think couple shoots are awesome! A couple shoot (engagement shoot or e-shoot) normally lasts for 1-1.5 hours and is a portrait session that happens before your wedding day. I describe my style as natural and documentary but I do also love to take 20 minutes out of the day for the portrait session with my brides and grooms and this is where having the couple shoot beforehand plays its part. The main reason why I recommend it to all my clients is simple, it allows you to get used to being in front of the camera. It doesn’t always feel that natural having a camera pointed at you, so having an opportunity before your wedding day is a great chance to try out a few angles and poses so that on the day it all feels a lot more natural. It also gives us a chance to get to know each other better and of course the added bonus is you get a few extra photos to add to your box of memories, and lets not forget it should be heaps of fun!
Sometimes it’s just not possible to meet before the wedding day due to distance and although this certainly won’t ruin the results of your photos, if you can meet up then I would highly recommend it! Here’s a few photos to give you an idea and you can see a few more in the couple shoot gallery!
